Editorial update – new co-Editor-in-Chief, Jean-Louis Lazzari, joins Pere Roca i Cabarrocas

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Jean-Louis Lazzari as co-Editor-in-Chief of EPJ Photovoltaics (EPJ PV) alongside Professor Pere Roca i Cabarrocas.

For many years, EPJ PV has been co-edited by Professor Pere Roca i Cabarrocas and Dr. Daniel Lincot both of whom are well-known experts in the field of photovoltaic solar energy conversion. Having given many years of excellent service to the journal as co-Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Lincot has decided the time is right for him to become an Honorary Editor-in-Chief. He remains very close to EPJ PV and will play an important advisory role.

Dr. Lazzari is a senior researcher at the Centre Interdisciplinaire de Nanoscience de Marseille (CINaM). He is a quantum- and device- physicist and very active in international events linked to Nanoscience, Nanotechnologies and Photovoltaics. He was either co-founder, chair, co-organiser or member of the scientific committees of many international conferences like the Photovoltaic Technical Conference (PVTC2010 - i-PVTC2018), EU PVSEC 2019 French PV Innovation Day, Edmond Becquerel Symposium 2020, Euro-Mediterranean Conferences on Materials & Renewable Energies (Biannual EMCMRE 1-6), Biannual Nanomeeting Conference and related FRONTIERS Workshops (NANOMEETING 2005-2019) or the International Conference in Nanosciences & Nanotechnologies (NN19-NN22). Dr. Lazzari is widely published and has been actively involved in EPJ PV special issues in particular, including ‘PV Materials & Devices’ which is open for submissions until 30 September 2022.

Dr. Lazzari will be working closely with Professor Pere Roca i Cabarrocas who is a longstanding and experienced Editor-in-Chief. Professor Pere Roca i Cabarrocas is the Scientific Director of the Institut Photovoltaïque d’Île-de-France (IPVF). He is also a Research Director at the CNRS and a Professor at the École Polytechnique.

Dr. Lincot is now emeritus research director at the CNRS and was invited Professor 2021-2022 at the Collège de France and has worked tirelessly with Professor Pere Roca i Cabarrocas to apply their professional expertise and high standards to the research published in EPJ PV. In 2020, Dr. Lincot was awarded a top honour by the Académie des sciences. The following year, EPJ PV was awarded the DOAJ Seal for “best practice in open access publishing”.

“We would like to thank Dr. Lincot for the unstinting care and attention he has given EPJ PV over the years,” commented Ariana Fuga, Senior Editor, EDP Sciences. “We can’t wait to see how EPJ PV will evolve under the co-editorship of Professor Pere Roca i Cabarrocas and Dr. Lazzari and feel sure Dr. Lincot’s ongoing, consultative involvement will be a huge advantage.”
